How About an Anglican Compact Instead?

Mark Harris at Preludium has drafted an Anglican Compact which, in my mind, far better reflects Anglican polity and provincial autonomy than does the Draft Covenant. As someone already noted, the key word here is a compact among rather than a covenant between. I do think a more explicit reference to the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral, or its components, would be nice, but all in all this is much better. Mark is on the Executive Council, now meeting this week. Perhaps this could be the beginning of an explicit counter-proposal on our part. After all, it's always better to suggest an alternative than to simply reject something placed on the table.

Read it all.
